FAQs

From September 2021, the primary focus will shift towards COVID-19 vaccination booster doses to run alongside the seasonal flu vaccination programme. With that in mind we are looking to recruit additional vaccinators and support roles for the programme. Some of the vaccinators who have supported the programme are no longer available and we need to ensure we have sufficient resources to draw upon.

The whole process can take around 2-3 weeks to allow time for employment and Occupational Health checks. We expect that during this time all training is completed and sent in to us. You will be contacted by our colleagues in MLCSU in regard to references, ID checks etc. We try not to send too many emails and keep communication down to the minimum. Don’t worry, work will be going on in the background to process you through to the Cheshire Vaccination Bank. If you have not heard anything once Occupational Health checks have been completed, please get in touch with us.

We follow all NHS and Mid Cheshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust standards when it comes to employment and Occupational Health checks. We appreciate that this can be frustrating at times but we must follow these to make sure both our volunteers patients are safe.

Some PCNs are using the Good Sam app to book volunteers and therefore the shifts are not advertised on TempRE.

There are currently 18 Primary Care Network (PCN) sites throughout Cheshire and 2 Mass Vaccination Sites using the Cheshire Vaccination Bank to source workers. The location details are provided with every vacancy listed on the TempRE site (the system that the Cheshire Vaccination Bank uses).

Yes. If you are offered both shifts, you will need to confirm the one you wish to work and decline the other.

The Cheshire Vaccination Bank does not decide the rates that are offered. The operators of each site decide this.

Each Primary Care Network (PCN) Vaccination site is operated by different groups of General Practices. On TempRE, you will see that a minimum payment has been agreed for the various roles they are seeking support on. Mass Vaccination Sites are operated by NHS Trusts and tend to pay a set rate depending on the role. The operators of all the sites have the autonomy to pay what they decide is an appropriate amount and

If you apply for a shift but do not receive an offer, it simply means that the shift has been filled by an alternative worker and therefore your help was not required in that instance. The bookers tend to work on a first come first served basis so please do not be deterred from applying to more shifts in the future, as there is a very good chance you will be offered a shift at some point particularly if you are able to respond quickly.

It could be that you and your friend have different qualifications and clinical registration requirements or that your friend applied for the role before you did. Most bookers work on a first come first serve basis.

You can add your travel preference into your TempRE (Cheshire Vaccination Bank) profile however, the Booking Teams don’t always have time to check this before inviting you to apply for a job which is why you may receive invitations for vacancies that are outside of your preferred area. You can decide not to apply for these roles of course.

Only registered clinicians on the government list can draw-up and get consent. Vaccinators can apply for administration roles, as long as they have completed the required data security awareness module

Sometimes, shifts have to be cancelled at short notice due to vaccine availability. Unfortunately, this is out of the control of the Cheshire Vaccination Bank. This will hopefully stabilise in the next few weeks.

Each Primary Care Network (PCN) Vaccination site is operated by different groups of General Practices. Mass Vaccination Sites are operated by NHS Trusts.

The system operators are busy, however they endeavour to offer shifts to applied candidates as quickly as possible. As soon as you are offered a shift, please login to TempRE and confirm/decline the offer.

Please contact florbela.woest@nhs.net who will be able to amend this for you. You will need to accept the association with the volunteer/paid bank before you can start applying to shifts.

There is an induction pack attached to each vacancy on TempRE, which you can view by expanding the ‘more information’ section from within the vacancy.

This is important for audit and reporting purposes, so we please ask that you ensure a timesheet is completed for every shift worked.

You will need to complete the Payroll New Starter Document and send to esr.recruitmentforms@mcht.nhs.uk before you can be booked into any shift. You will also need to complete a timesheet on Monday for shifts worked the previous week. You can expect to receive payment the following Monday.

Please be advised that your payslip will be uploaded on to your profile on the date of payment by 5:30pm. Payslips are located on TempRE in under ‘Payslips & Payment’ or by clicking on your name in the top right hand corner of your account > view profile > payment.

Payslips are sorted by payment dates and can be downloaded as PDF copies.

If you need to cancel a shift, please contact the PCN/GP surgery directly.
